Art Class for Art Teachers: Locally Designed Studio-Based Professional Development
Art educators need and want studio-based professional development, but we often find ourselves in professional learning situations which do not meet our unique needs. In this capstone project I sought a solution to this problem by facilitating a district approved professional development course which included studio inquiry and collegial networking and support. In May and June 2015 I facilitated a studio-based professional development course on artist bookmaking.
It is my intention to use the experience I gained by facilitating this course to inform future professional development for art educators in my district. I hope my findings will be useful for other art educators who wish to facilitate studio-based professional development.
